Boardman Gazette
After meetings at the Holiday Inn in Boardman, the trustees determined that they need more money and will ask taxpayers for 3.9 mils. This is expected to generate 3.5 million yearly. Do they not see the economic distress? Why are the employees of Boardman immune to cuts in their wages and benefits that the same taxpayers are being forced to accept? The audit said they made 20% more than peer communities.

The latest scam - Police chief to step down and then get rehired next day
By Webmaster
Boardman Gazette
Police chief Jack Nichols is going to retire and then be rehired as chief the next day at a reduced salary. This way he can collect a sweet pension AND also get paid $60,000 for a total haul of over $120,000. The township of course painted this move the only way they know how and the only way to reduce public outcry as cost savings that will enable them to hire an additional officer. I guess if part of the money comes from sources (PERS) other than directly from the Boardman coffers that is somehow saving money? Only at the golden public trough can that make sense.
